On February 11, the Association Young Economists of Georgia held a final event of the project "Promoting Civic Involvement to Improve Social Accountability and Local Governance in Kvemo Kartli and Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti Municipalities (Marneuli, Gardabani, Oni, Ambrolauri)."
The project was implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the Government of Georgia, in the framework of the project "Promoting Decentralization and Good Governance at the Local Level in Georgia".
The project aimed to strengthen and ensure inclusive policies and civic engagement by promoting institutional mechanisms.
Activities were carried out such as: promoting institutional local practices of civic participation; Increased the capacity of local civil society organizations through a mentoring program to identify social initiatives and civic engagement; Introduced and promoted volunteer models locally.
The closing event of the project was attended by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project "Promoting Decentralization and Good Governance at the Local Level in Georgia", mayors of the target municipalities - Marneuli, Gardabani, Oni and Amaborolauri, and their deputies, representatives of local NGO initiatives. At the end of the Meeting the Winner Volunteers of the Photo Competition were awarded and passed the prizes. Also the member of established volunteer committees were handed over the Letters of support from the mayors.
