“Enhancing mall farmer’s cooperatives’ productivity in Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi region", a project funded by ENPARD-Georgia, projects’ one of the implementing partner is Association of Young Economists of Georgia, with the duration of 01.02.2014-31.06.2017. The overall objective of the project is the reduction of rural poverty in Imereti and Racha. The project action targets semi-commercial small farmers as well as agribusiness and rural entrepreneurs in order to increase their productivity and income as members of business-oriented groups such as cooperatives and associations. Within the project, 23 agricultural cooperatives are established and funded, among them was cooperative “Dzusispiruli”.

I learned about the project at the informational meeting, held in our village. Before that, we had wanted to expend our business but we did not have enough money to buy technical equipment. That's why we decided to participate in this competition.

Now, there is 6 members in our cooperative, in a few days cooperative will grow up to the 11 members. Creation of cooperative in our village showed residents example of success and raised the hope for the better future. Our wine got the best reviews at the wine festival held in Georgia, which strengthen our self-confidence and gave us an incentive.  Our wine is sold together in the well-known wine brands in the best shops and wine bars in Georgia. For the sessional work we hire about 3 -4 employees and for the green operations  we hire 12-14 women.

The main problem in our society is the lack of knowledge. We do not have the skills that are needed for a market economy. The government have to help this process for somewhat. Those who has these skills don’t have a money and vice versa. Finally I would like to advise to the farmers not to lose hope and they will achieve what they want.
