The Availability of the food in Georgia

Published: 1 January, 2011

The report describes the impact of the growth of food prices on the Georgian population. The dependence of the population on the food product prices include high risks, especially in recent years, when food prices in Georgia are increasing with the record rates. The report also includes survey results of households living under the poverty line. The households were interviewed in Tbilisi in order to evaluate the impact of the increased food prices on the families. Consequently, the population and especially the vulnerable families suffer strictly from the results of increased prices. Food availability is an important and long-term challenge for the country. In addition, the permanent increase of the food product prices aggravates and exacerbates already heavy conditions of the families.
